HISTORY OF THE BULLDOG DERBY

The Inaugural Bulldog Derby event took place on January 19th, 2019, at the Santa Anita Park Racetrack in Arcadia, CA. Christine Duran from The Bulldog Republic teamed up with John Gonzales from @igbulldogs_worldwide and Skip Van Der Marliere from the SoCal Bulldog Rescue to organize and produce the 2019 event with Santa Anita Park. The goal of this event was to fundraiser for the SCBR . With the help of our vendors, sponsors  - including the Presenting Sponsorship by Souza Insurance  - ticket sales, and merch sold on the day, we were able to raise over $10,000.00 for the rescue. And who could forget our 1st Bulldog Derby winners snoopy "The Flying Ace" and Brady the Frenchie! 

The attendance and success of the event surpassed our expectations,  the 2nd Bulldog Derby 2020 was already in the books. 

The 2nd Annual Bulldog Derby was again held at Santa Anita Park Racetrack in Arcadia,  CA on January 18th, 2020. Despite the unfortunate situation with the horses in 2019, and despite not having our previous partners & co-organizers, we were still able to produce a successful event. We featured a Bulldog Wagon Parade, a Bulldog King & queen coronation, and dedicated our Strut Your Stuff to Miss O'Malley - a bulldog diagnosed with cancer, who came to the Bulldog Derby as her last outing before she passed. 

Instead of fundraising for 1 organization, we helped 2 organizations: CARMA4HORSES and Protecting Paws Animal Rescue of Minnesota. With the help of our vendors and sponsors, we were able to raise $2,500.00. And who could forget the 2020 winners: Bizkit aka "the Flying Bizkit" and Kali the frenchie!
